Some adverts claim immigrants can get jobs at UK government departments with visa sponsorship. In general, Civil Service posts have nationality rules, and sponsorship is not the main route.
Who can apply
- UK nationals.
- Irish nationals.
- Commonwealth nationals who have the right to work in the UK.
- EU, EEA and Swiss nationals with settled or pre settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, and some family members.
- A few other groups, such as certain Turkish nationals.
Some schemes require British citizenship, so read the scheme page. Visa and sponsorship questions go to the Home Office. Official page: Civil Service Careers: nationality requirements.
Red flags and scams
- Anyone who asks you to pay for a job offer, a permit or a “guaranteed” visa.
- Adverts with very high pay for beginners, or with no interview.
- Contact only by WhatsApp, Telegram or a free email address, with no company website or address.
- Look-alike government sites. Use only the official government website for the country.
If you think you have been targeted, stop paying, keep every message and receipt, and report it to Action Fraud. You can also email us at admin@jobsbroads.com.
