Working in Scotland on a UK Visa: Current Requirements

Last reviewed: 25 October 2026. Scotland follows UK immigration law. Scottish proposals are not yet law.

There is no separate Scottish work visa today. You use the same UK routes as in the rest of the country, such as the Skilled Worker visa.

What you need

  • A job offer from a licensed sponsor.
  • A Certificate of Sponsorship.
  • The required salary level and English language proof.

Scotland has proposed place based routes, but they are only proposals as of a 3 September 2026 alert from Vialto Partners. Official rules: GOV.UK.

Red flags and scams

  • Anyone who asks you to pay for a job offer, a permit or a “guaranteed” visa.
  • Adverts with very high pay for beginners, or with no interview.
  • Contact only by WhatsApp, Telegram or a free email address, with no company website or address.
  • Look-alike government sites. Use only the official government website for the country.

If you think you have been targeted, stop paying, keep every message and receipt, and report it to Police Scotland or Action Fraud. You can also email us at admin@jobsbroads.com.
