Caregiver Pay in UK Cities: Why the Number Depends on the Employer

Last reviewed: 25 October 2026. There is no official ranking of cities by caregiver pay. Check each advert.

Lists that rank UK cities by caregiver pay are usually built from adverts, so they are not official. This page explains how to compare offers fairly.

Know the minimum

The National Living Wage for those aged 21 and over is reported as £12.71 per hour from April 2026 (Money to the Masses, 26 November 2025). Check the official figure on GOV.UK.

How to compare offers

  1. Compare the hourly rate, not the monthly estimate.
  2. Ask whether travel time between visits is paid.
  3. Check unpaid or zero hour terms.
  4. Check whether the employer is a licensed sponsor if you need a visa.

Care roles have had separate sponsorship rules and recent changes, so verify the current position on GOV.UK before you rely on any advert.

Red flags and scams

  • Anyone who asks you to pay for a job offer, a permit or a “guaranteed” visa.
  • Adverts with very high pay for beginners, or with no interview.
  • Contact only by WhatsApp, Telegram or a free email address, with no company website or address.
  • Look-alike government sites. Use only the official government website for the country.

If you think you have been targeted, stop paying, keep every message and receipt, and report it to Action Fraud and the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority. You can also email us at admin@jobsbroads.com.
